Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 29, 2025

Our Commitment

At Pixel Mariner, privacy isn't just a policy—it's our foundation. We've built our service around the principle that your data belongs to you, and you alone.

What We Collect

We collect the absolute minimum required to provide our service:

  • Encrypted file data: Your files are encrypted client-side before reaching our servers
  • Technical metadata: File size, upload timestamp, and expiration settings
  • Anonymous analytics: Basic usage statistics without personal identifiers
  • IP addresses: Logged temporarily for abuse prevention, deleted within 24 hours

What We Don't Collect

  • Personal information (names, emails, phone numbers) for anonymous uploads
  • File contents—we cannot decrypt your files
  • Browsing history or tracking cookies
  • Device fingerprints or persistent identifiers

End-to-End Encryption

All files are encrypted in your browser using AES-256 encryption before transmission. The decryption key is embedded in the share URL fragment (after the #), which is never sent to our servers. This means we cannot access, view, or decrypt your files—even if compelled by law.

Data Retention

We automatically delete files based on your chosen expiration settings:

  • After the specified number of views (1-100)
  • After the time limit expires (1 hour to 30 days)
  • Whichever comes first

Once deleted, files are permanently unrecoverable—even by us.

Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We use reputable infrastructure providers (AWS, Cloudflare) who are contractually bound to protect your data. These providers cannot access encrypted file contents.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your files at any time via the management interface
  • Request information about data we've collected (minimal as described above)
  • Opt out of analytics cookies

Security

We employ industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption for data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, regular security audits, and DDoS protection. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Material changes will be announced on our homepage 30 days before taking effect.
